Our skin naturally ages as we grow older. Extrinsic and intrinsic factors such as aging, lifestyle choices, sun exposure, stress, gravity, obesity, and even sleep position can all contribute to aging skin which usually results in the following:
- Wrinkles
These are fine surface lines or deep furrows caused by sun exposure, smoking, heredity, etc. - Laugh lines
These are lines in the face caused by the movement of our facial muscles which become more visible as you age. - Dry, itchy skin
This happens due to the natural loss of oil glands as we age. But, this could also be a sign of a more serious condition. - Age spots
The tale-tell signs of aging; these appear as brown spots and/or patches on the face, arms, forearms, and hands. - Slack, transparent skin
These are caused by the thinning of the outer layer of the skin and the loss of elastic tissue
We can easily see these changes in our senior loved ones and, for the most part, these are normal. However, because these skin changes are normally seen among the elderly, it is difficult to see abnormal changes when they happen. This is why at Greater Works Companion Care, LLC, our home care in Wilmington, Delaware, part of the wide range of services we provide include personal care service.
With our caregivers assisting them with their personal care routines, they can easily spot abnormal changes in our patients’ skin and alert their families or their physician.
We also offer companion care in Delaware as well as various in-home care services such as incontinence care, 24-hour live-in care, and respite care, among others.
